Elandon Roberts of Port Arthur has made the cut by not getting sliced by the New England Patriots on Saturday.
According to the team’s website, www.patriots.com, Roberts was not one of the 20 players cut by the team Saturday to get New England’s roster down to 53 players.
The former Port Arthur Memorial standout is listed on the site as a third-string linebacker behind Dont’a Hightower and Barkevious Mingo.
The Patriots drafted Roberts in the sixth round with the 214th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Roberts was named to the 2015 All-American Athletic Conference first team as a senior after leading the league with 142 total tackles. He started all 14 games for the Cougars and had seven games with double-digit tackles, including 10 in Houston’s win over Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
His biggest game in college came against Memphis when he had a career-high 18 tackles, a sack and his first career interception.
