However, one of the organizers also notes that the group is also an opportunity for visiting, reassuring and general socializing.

Even more than politics, the act of coming together with an open heart and sharing yourself with your neighbors is a healthy vital sign in any community. Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican or none of the above, being active in a community politics keeps one knowledgeable about how our democracy works and it encourages friendships and social dependency. These things, at least, are things we can all appreciate.
