Phyllis Jean Distefano Hall Smith
Phyllis Jean Distefano Hall Smith, 68, of Groves passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 19, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to Joseph and Mary Distefano.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur-Groves area. She attended St. James Elementary School and graduated in 1967 from Bishop Byrne High School.
She enjoyed her home and loved taking care of her family, cooking and reading.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Reverend J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Distefano, brothers, Reverend Monsignor John Distefano, Joe Distefano, and Sam Distefano, sister, Mary Anne Hughes and her first husband, Lewis Steve Hall.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Ronald L. Smith; daughters, Andrea Hall of Bunkie, LA., and Sara Hebert and husband Shaun of Port Neches; son, Steven Hall and wife, Amanda of Port Arthur, granddaughter Sophia Hebert, sisters, Frances Cascio and Lucille Piazza of Port Arthur and Elizabeth “Betty” Vardaman of Orange, brothers, Louis Distefano of Groves and Fred Distefano and wife Kay of Silsbee, several nieces and nephews and loyal dog Misha.
