Lillian Herpin Dartez

Lillian Herpin Dartez, 98, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Gulf Health Care Nursing Home. Lillian was born May 15, 1918 in Kaplan, Louisiana to Theodore and Josephine Herpin. In 1935 Lillian married Avner Dartez, Jr., in Kaplan, Louisiana. As of 1948 she has since called Port Arthur her home. Lillian enjoyed sewing and was a seamstress for 45 years. She loved cooking, relaxing and visiting with friends. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the altar society.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Herpin and Josephine David Herpin; spouse, Avner Dartez, Jr.; four sisters; two brothers and son-in-law, W.L. “Dub” Straughn. She is survived by daughter, Mildred Dartez Straughn of Beaumont, Texas; and a sister, Willie Mae Frith of Kaplan, Louisiana; five nieces and one nephew.

The family of Lillian Dartez would like to give a “Special” thank you, to Kindred Hospice and the staff of Gulf Health Care Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lillian’s memory to St. James Catholic Church; 3617 Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77642.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with a rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately after the rosary at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
