A Beaumont man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an Easter Sunday shooting in Port Arthur.
Police have not released the identity of the 24-year-old suspect but are preparing to present the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office some time next week, Port Arthur Police Det. Joe Paul said.
Police responded to a call of a shooting victim shortly before 10:30 a.m. April 16 to Port Arthur Townhomes, 3500 Turtle Creek Drive. While there they found that a 32-year-old Port Arthur man sustained a gunshot wound after a disturbance while at the apartment complex.
Both the suspect and the victim were sent to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas and were treated and released.
Police said the suspect sustained injuries during a struggle with the victim over the gun used in the incident.
