UPDATE: School closings due to Harvey

Students ready for the first day of school and those ready for the second week of school will be waiting a little longer due to flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey.
Schools in Port Arthur Independent School District will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the effects of the storm. Officials are on standby for opening on Thursday, Aug. 31, according to a press release from the district.
PAISD Superintendent Mark Porterie said the district buildings are OK and did not receive any damage during the heavy rain.
Nederland ISD will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 29 due to the continued effects from remnants of Hurricane Harvey and will be on standby for opening on Wednesday. An official with NISD said campus buildings did not see any flooding.
Both PAISD and NISD were set to begin the 2017-2018 school year on Monday.
Port Neches-Groves ISD will be closed on Tuesday, according to information from the district. Students there began school on Aug. 21.
Other closings include:
Bob Hope campuses (elementary and middle/high school) and The Hebert Adult Day Care Center will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 29. Please continue to check Facebook for further updates.
The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Beaumont will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Lamar State College Port Arthur has canceled classes for Tuesday, Aug. 29 and non-essential staff should not report to work.
Lamar University in Beaumont classes scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 30 has been canceled. This cancellation is in addition to those announced for Monday and Tuesday.
