ORANGE COUNTY — A Groves man was seriously injured after rear-ending a parked semi-trailer around 1:45 a.m. Friday.
The crash occurred on Interstate 10 in Orange County near the Texas-Louisiana state line, according to the Texas department of Public Safety.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet drifted onto the improved shoulder of the roadway and rear-ended a parked truck tractor semi-trailer.
The driver of the Chevrolet, David Alvarez, 24, of Groves, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, 62-year-old Bobby Connell of Florida, was not injured in the crash.
This is an ongoing investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash.
