According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, the offices in Jefferson and Orange counties were closed on Aug. 25.

The Port Arthur driver license office is located at 900 4th St. and the office is operating at normal business hours.

Anyone who lost a drivers license in the flood may get a free replacement license or an ID card if they already had a state-issued ID. A replacement would normally cost $11.

Eligible cardholders will need to visit a driver license office in person to obtain a free Texas driver license or identification card replacement.

For more information, visit www.dps.texas.gov/administration/driver_license_control/rolodex/search.asp. Or call 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same. The fee is the same for online, in-person and telephone renewals. Customers may renew their driver license or Texas ID card one year early prior to the expiration date.
