Minister Michael Kelly Miller

Minister Michael Kelly Miller, age 63 transitioned to his new and eternal life on September 14, 2017 in Veterans Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Leesville, Louisiana to Oscar Kelly and Mazel Smith Miller. Mike as he was often called by family was the eldest of 10 children and the patriarch of the family.  He was a God-fearing man who loved his family dearly. Mike was full of faith, hope and compassion for all. 

Michael was a 1973 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.  Upon graduation he enlisted in the United State Air Force and worked as a System Cryptologic Operator, in the Electronic Security Command at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He resigned in 1983. He later moved to Houston and was employed with National Elevator Industry working with several companies and big name projects around the Houston area and at night with Kindred Hospital as a Certified Nurse Assistant/Therapist. In 2010 Michael stopped working to take better care of his health.

Michael leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife Shelia; children; Graylin Johnson, Sr. of Joplin, Missouri, Kimberly (Huey) Brown of San Antonio, Texas, Michael (Ja’Quisha) Miller, Jr. of Port Arthur, Texas, Joshua Miller, Faith Miller, Gabrielle Miller and Christian Miller of Houston, Texas. In addition to his children, Mike leaves behind many grandchildren who he loved dearly. Other remaining immediate family members consist of his brothers – John (Helen) of Beaumont, Texas; Karl (Pat), Kent (Amelia), Oscar Bruce (Jeritza) of Port Arthur, Texas, sisters – Evelyn Miller, Sharon Charles, Arlene (Robert) LeBlanc and Faydrett Miller all of Port Arthur, Texas and a host of relatives and loving friends.

Special Thanks to the staff of Verterans Memorial Hospital, Bishop I.V.  and Pastor Bridget Hillard and New Light Christian Center Church (North location) and O.W. Wiley Mortuary all of Houston, Texas. A viewing will be held from 10:00am – 11am on Friday, September 22, 2017. Funeral services will follow at 11am at New Life Christian Center ~ 1535 Greensmark.  Interment: Houston National Cemetery.
