Catherine Beatrice Bertrand

Catherine Beatrice Bertrand, 90, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her residence.

Catherine was born on April 16, 1927 in De Ridder, Louisiana to parents Hattie (Young) and Newton M. Patterson. She had lived in the Port Arthur area since 1947 and was member of First Baptist Church in Groves. She worked for Great Lakes Carbon Corporation for many years as a Shipping Clerk. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, and painting. At Christmas time she loved to make her fruitcakes for all her family and friends. Catherine was a loving person who will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-three years, Leroy F. Bertrand; her son, Steven Bertrand; her daughter, Marion “Ginger” Worrell, and her five siblings.

Catherine is survived by her son Paul Bertrand and wife Debra of Osyka, MS, daughter Jean Rantz and husband Leroy of Portland, OR, and daughter Anita Marcos of Port Arthur. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, her twenty two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will held on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Catherine will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
