NEDERLAND SWEEPS CENTRAL IN V’BALL

BEAUMONT — Abbey Montalvo nearly reached a triple double in volleyball Friday.
Montalvo totaled 20 assists, 12 kills and eight digs in leading Nederland to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-20 sweep of Beaumont Central.
The first regular Friday of the District 22-5A season following a compressed schedule went smoothly for Nederland (17-11, 6-3 in 22-5A), which had lost two of three. Haley Plumley and Meg Sheppard each had nine kills, and Peyton Smith added 17 digs. Sheppard dug four, Plumley blocked three and Smith aced two.
Nederland will host Port Neches-Groves on Tuesday.
