Lonnie Champagne of Houston recorded only the second hole in one in the month of October at Babe Zaharias.

Nederland’s Brendan Marley came up big in the Southern Texas PGA Fall Junior Tournament played at Zaharias. Marley posted a three-over-par 75 to win Boys 15-18 by six shots over Bulldog teammate Jadon Bell.

Port Neches-Groves ex Andrew Landry, after an amazing start that saw him play the first five holes in six under, fall steadily down the leaderboard in the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Classic.

Following a first-round 66 that was good for a share of the lead, Landry shot 74-74-75 for a 289 that left him tied for 59th. That earned a check for $9,331.

Lamar ex Shawn Stefani, meanwhile, had a strong showing in the Jackson, Mississippi, event. Stefani shot 67-70 on the weekend for a 280 total that was good for a 10th-place tie and a payoff of $92,142.

Both Landry and Stefani are playing in this week’s Shriners Hospital for Children’s Championship in Las Vegas …

Nederland ex Felicia Sauceda rebounded from a tough Monday to close with a 76 Tuesday in the University of South Florida Classic at the TPC of Tampa. The 76 was the low round for the Lamar University women’s team which finished 11th in team competition.

Sauceda, who shot 84-85 on Monday, was T48 overall out of 74 players with her 54-hole total of 245. Elodie Chapelet was low for LU with 230, which tied for ninth. Eva Martinez was T19 with a 233.

PNG ex Karlei Hemler, playing for McNeese State, shot rounds of 83-84-82 for a 255 that tied for 56th. McNeese finished 12th …
