Matt Bryant has made a few of these in his career, so he was called to do it again.

The 1994 Bridge City graduate hit a 52-yard field goal that would prove to be the game winner Thursday night, as the host Atlanta Falcons beat the New Orleans Saints 20-17 on Thursday night.

The field goal was Bryant’s second of the game. He knocked one through the uprights from 28 yards out in the first quarter to tie the game at 3-3.

Bryant’s game-winner bailed Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan out of fault had the Falcons not won. Ryan completed 15 of 27 passes for 221 yards and touchdown, but through three interceptions.

Deion Jones intercepted a Drew Brees pass on second-and-10 with 1:30 remaining to all but wrap up the Falcons’ win. Brees went 26 for 35 for 271 yards and two touchdowns with the lone pick.

New Orleans (9-4) still owns a half-game lead over Carolina (8-4) in the NFC South. Atlanta (8-5) is third in the division.
