A fire was caused due to flooding in the city of Port Arthur.

No, it wasn’t from Tropical Storm Harvey. An overflowing toilet caused the trouble instead.

The Port Arthur Fire Department responded to a call at the Port Arthur City Hall on Thursday afternoon after a report of smoke in the annex building, according to a firefighter. He said a toilet overflowed, soaking an old electrical plug under some carpet, causing the smoke.

The electricity was shut off and the plug ceased smoking. Workers were also sent home early.

The office was being cleaned so work could resume Friday.
