NFL: Report: WOS grad Thomas contemplating holdout

West Orange-Stark graduate and Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas told ESPN he is contemplating a holdout if he and the team cannot agree to another contract extension.

Thomas, 28, who was named to the Pro Bowl (2 p.m. Sunday on ABC and ESPN), told the network in an online story he wants to finish his career there.

“I definitely don’t see myself going out there not signed. But I’m going to continue to work my butt off and enjoy this process at the Pro Bowl,” Thomas told ESPN. “As far as my future in Seattle, I think if they want me, you know, money talks. We’ll get something accomplished. Other than that, I’m just taking it one day at a time.”

Thomas, an eight-year pro who has spent his entire career in Seattle and won a Super Bowl in the 2013 season, is going into the final year of a reported four-year, $40 million extension he signed after the 2013 season. ESPN reported that made him the highest-paid safety in the league.

It’s also been reported Thomas lobbied Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to help the team acquire him following Seattle’s 21-12 win in Arlington last month.

Thomas graduated from West Orange-Stark in 2007 and played collegiately at the University of Texas.
