Staff report
Beaumont police late Sunday used “stop sticks” to safely halt a vehicle driven by a fleeing suspect.
In an issued statement Monday, police said they were sent to Thirsty’s, 229 N. Dowlen Road, at 11:40 p.m. on a call about a disturbance.
When officers arrived, the suspect fled in his vehicle. As the suspect continued to flee from police, two officers were able to deploy stop sticks, which safely brought the vehicle to a stop.
The suspect was identified as Sedric Williams, 41, of Beaumont. He was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail for:
- Evading in a motor vehicle
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Driving without a license
- Failure to appear
No bond was set on the first two charges; bond of a total of $900 was set on the last three.
