Pedestrian killed in early-morning crash in Orange County

A pedestrian was killed early Tuesday in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 62 in Orange County.

Sgt. Stephanie Davis, Department of Public Safety, said the wreck occurred around 4 a.m. near Dailey Road.

In an issued statement, DPS said initial reports say a Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling southbound on Highway 62 and was in collision with a pedestrian who was walking southbound near the roadway.

Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Troopers were working to positively identify the deceased victim Tuesday morning.
The driver, a 28-year-old male from Lumberton, was not injured, DPS said.

Troopers continued to investigate Tuesday morning.
