Louisiana pedestrian killed in wreck

A Louisiana construction worker was killed in an auto-pedestrian collision Thursday night in Port Arthur.
Luis Lopez, 51, was attempting to cross the street at 8:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Memorial Boulevard, Port Arthur Police Department said.
Lopez sustained major injuries from the accident and he was taken to Christus St. Mary’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Jefferson County Precinct Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett.
Officer Sadie Guedry said the incident remained under investigation Friday. She said speed was not believed to be a factor.
