SOCCER: Dynamo’s Elis selected to first All-Star roster

Houston Dynamo forward Alberth Elis was selected to his first MLS All-Star roster Friday.

Elis leads the MLS with 31 shots on goal and is tied for the team lead in goal with eight. He has recorded a goal or assist in 10 of Houston’s 15 games this season, and his 13 goals and assists are tied for fifth-most in the league.

The MLS All-Stars will face Italian champion Juventus at 6:30 p.m. Central on Aug. 1 at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Dynamo will host Los Angeles FC on July 3 at 8 p.m.
