Coast Guard suspends search for missing diver near Sabine Pass

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a diver Friday who went missing about 75 miles south of Sabine Pass.
Search crews covered more than 3,100 square miles for about 46 hours looking for Alfred Charles Lensing, 65.
Eighth Coast Guard District watchstanders received an emergency position indicating radio beacon signal Wednesday evening from a 22-foot pleasure craft tied to an oil rig. Watchstanders contacted the person on the vessel who activated the Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon and learned that a second person on the vessel had gone spear fishing but did not resurface.
