VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS: Dogs’ season ends in sweep

A close first-set victory set Santa Fe’s sails Monday in a UIL 5A bi-district volleyball win over Nederland at Lee College in Baytown.

Destyn Miguez finished with 17 kills for Nederland, but Santa Fe cruised with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-14 sweep. The loss ended the Bulldogs’ season at 21-20. (Nederland also lost a warm-up match against Huffman on Friday.)

For the Bulldogs, Meg Sheppard had seven digs and three kills, Jenna Jarrett made 10 assists, Haley Plumley had five kills and two aces, Mackenzie MacFarlane recorded four kills and two blocks and Karley McGill made three blocks.
