While Port Arthur firefighters were busy extinguishing a fire early Tuesday morning they were also developing leads to a person of interest.
That led to the arrest of Mark LeBlanc, 60, on a charge of arson.
The Port Arthur Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire at 6:09 a.m. at 3098 59th St. The fire was contained to the detached garage and did not spread to the home, according to a press release from the PAFD.
The location has been vacant for some time and there were no injuries during the fire.
Deputy Fire Marshal Antonio Mitchell said the suspect did not own the house and there were not utilities to the house.
A person of interest was identified by the Port Arthur Fire Marshals while the fire was in progress. At about 4:30 p.m. an arrest warrant issued by Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen was served and LeBlanc was taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
Bond is set at $20,000.
