Staff report
A Houston man who fled Friday from Department of Public Safety Troopers was captured after running his vehicle into a ditch.
DPS said in an issued statement that a Trooper saw the driver of a silver Ford SUV make several unsafe lane changes from the access road at Exit 875 in Orange County onto the eastbound entrance ramp of Interstate 10.
Initial reports indicate the Trooper made contact with the driver for a few minutes before the driver took off in the vehicle. The driver fled at an unsafe speed, then exited the freeway near mile marker 872 before driving into a ditch on Lewis Drive.
Troopers and Orange County Sheriff’s deputies took Joseph Sloan, 33, of Houston into custody and transported him to the Orange County jail without further incident. He was booked on charges of evading and DWI-3rd or more, DPS said.
