Holiday closures, garbage pickup

For some, New Year’s Eve is a holiday but not for those who work at local cities.
City halls in Port Arthur, Nederland, Groves and Port Neches will be open for business as usual Dec. 31, which means normal garbage pickup as well.
But this doesn’t apply to Jan. 1 — which is a legal holiday.
Here’s how the garbage pickup will work:
- Port Arthur — No garbage pickup Jan. 1. Garbage pickup will resume Wednesday and run a day behind. For missed garbage, call 409-983-8511.
There is nothing special in place for disposal of Christmas trees. They may be picked up with trash and collected in the same manner as tree limbs, according to information from the city.
- Nederland — No garbage pickup Jan. 1. Garbage pickup will resume Wednesday and run a day behind.
Christmas trees may be disposed of at the city’s public works department, 515 Hardy Ave., Nederland.
- Port Neches — No garbage pickup Jan. 1. It will be picked up on their next scheduled day on Friday.
- Groves — No garbage pickup Jan. 1. Garbage pickup will resume Wednesday and run a day behind.
