GOLF: Triple bogey sends Landry to 75

Another slow start, then a crippling triple bogey at 10 after his first birdie of the day, sent Andrew Landry sliding down the leaderboard in the second round of the Tournament of Champions.
Though he rebounded by playing his final eight holes in three-under-par, Landry had to settle for a two-over 75 on the wind-blown Kapalua Plantation Course. That left the Port Neches-Groves ex at two-under 144 through 36 holes.
Tied for sixth, four shots off the lead with play began Friday, Landry walked away tied for 17th in the 33-player field. He’s 10 shots off the lead of Gary Woodland who rode five-consecutive birdies on the back to a second consecutive 67 and a 134.
Battling winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour, Landry was three-over through six holes, with bogeys at 1, 5 and 6. He stopped the bleeding with a tap-in birdie on the par-5 ninth, then made the triple bogey 7 on the short, par-4 10th when his tee shot rolled into a hazard.
Landry battled back with birdies from 8 feet on the par-4 12th, 7 feet on the par-4, 13th and 5 feet on the par-5 15th, but it was too little too late.
Round 3 will be televised starting at 3 p.m. Saturday on NBC, then coverage moves to the Golf Channel at 5 p.m.
