Dews was accused in connection with incidents involving a 4-year-old boy in summer 2017. He was accused of repeatedly assaulting the child.

A District Attorney’s office spokeswoman said the “outcry” from the child came some time after the incidents. Port Neches police investigated the case and a grand jury indicted Dews on Wednesday.

If convicted, Dews would face a punishment range of 25 to 99 years for each of the three counts of aggravated sexual assault and two-20 years for indecency with a child, which is a second-degree felony.
