Junior Cole Coker became the only Lamar player named to the Preseason All-Southland Conference teams released Tuesday.

Coker was placed on the first team as a utility player. The Huffman graduate started all 55 games last year and started at four different positions and six different lineup spots.

He was named to the postseason All-Southland second team in 2018 after hitting .277 with 56 hits and 24 runs batted in. He had two or more hits in 18 games.

Lamar coach Will Davis said in a team preview that Coker “will most likely be our starting left fielder but he’s pretty natural at second base and can slide back into the infield if we need him to.”

Lamar begins the season Feb. 15 at home against LIU-Brooklyn.
