PALT sets auditions for Soul Samurai parts

Performers of diverse ethnicities are invited to open auditions for Port Arthur Little Theater’s upcoming production of Soul Samurai by Qui Nguyen at 7 p.m. Feb. 18-20 at Port Arthur Little Theatre.
After avenging the death of her lover, a young samurai girl named Dewdrop, along with her faithful sidekick Cert, must now battle through vampire-infested Brooklyn to make it back home.
Please note this production contains adult language and artistic violence and the theater asks that only those age 18 and older audition.
Any interested parties nearing the age of 18 will only be considered if a parent or legal guardian contacts the director in advance.
This show has fight scenes, video projections, pre-recorded short films, a puppet show, and even an 18-wheeler chase combining the styles of the 1970s, Japan, gangsters and graphic novels.
Character information
- Dewdrop: Asian American, female, early to mid 20s
- Cert: African American, male, 18 to early 20s
- Marcus: African American, male, 30s to 50s
- Mac: African American, male, late 20s to early 40s
- Lady Snowflake: Caucasian, female, 20-early 30s
All characters perform fight choreography. Previous experience in martial arts or dance encouraged, but not mandatory. Additional performers needed as vampires/extras.
Performance dates are April 25-27 and May 2-4.
Port Arthur Little Theatre’s mission is to stimulate an interest in live theater by the presentation of worthy plays, to encourage local talent in acting, music, and theatre arts, and to endeavor to raise the standard of public taste in drama.
PALT was established in 1939, is currently celebrating its 79th season, and is grateful to have produced over 3,200 performances to date for the people of Southeast Texas.
