Andrew Landry and Chris Stroud, as expected, both missed the cut Friday in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but Landry walked away on an upbeat note.
The Port Neches-Groves ex, after shooting an opening 80 that included a seven-over-par 43 on his first nine holes, rebounded with a 69. Though his 149 missed the cut by four shots, Landry will head to next week’s Players Championship with hope that his game is back on track.
Stroud, meanwhile, will have next week off after backing up Thursday’s 79 with a 78. Having not played in three weeks, Stroud never got his game untracked. He fininshed the tournament with eight bogeys and four double bogeys.
Landry, who missed his third consecutive cut, broke 70 for the first time in eight rounds. He rolled in four birdies against a lone bogey on a day when he hit 12 of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 greens in regulaton.
