Staff report

Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck Sunday night near the intersection of State Highway 105 and Tram Road.

Troopers report that the collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. Initial reports say a 2008 Nissan driven by Timothy Edwards, 30, of Dayton was westbound on 105 when the vehicle crossed the roadway and collided with an eastbound 2005 Ford pickup truck driven by Derek Petree, 43, of Beaumont. Police were unsure why Edwards’ vehicle crossed the roadway.

Petree was examined by first-responders at the scene but was uninjured.

Edwards and his passenger, Tammy Kennedy, 21, were listed as having serious injuries after the Nissan rolled over several times. Edwards was extracted from the vehicle after he was entrapped, reports said.

Edwards and Kennedy were taken to St. Elizabeth hospital. They were listed in serious condition and there are no additional medical updates, the state Department of Public Safety said.

The investigation continued Monday.
