Logan Hamm struck out 10 in a complete game, and Bridge City’s offense backed him up Monday in a 5-1 win over Little Cypress-Mauriceville at BC’s Chuck Young Field.
The win kept the Cardinals (17-6-2, 8-1 in 22-4A) from having to share the district lead with the Battlin’ Bears (19-8, 6-3), who won the first meeting 5-3 on March 19.
Hamm did not allow any earned runs and scattered seven hits in 109 pitches. Tanner Wilson doubled and drove home two runs, while Peyton Havard, Cameron Yadon and Slade Foreman accounted for the other BC hits.
Hunter Perkins hit 2 for 3 to lead LCM.
Nederland 1, St. Agnes 0
Destini Trahan’s eight strikeouts in the circle and triple at the plate proved to be essential for Nederland in a 1-0 win at St. Agnes Academy in Houston on Monday.
Trahan tripled with one out in the fourth inning after hitting foul three times on the at-bat. Lexi Eversole drove in Corley Pompa, Trahan’s courtesy runner, on a sacrifice fly.
Harlee Brown had the other Nederland hit. Trahan allowed five hits in the 95-pitch victory.
