PGA TOUR: Landry beats storms, but Stroud misses cut

Both Andrew Landry and Chris Stroud had completed play when storms came roaring through Harbour Town Golf Links Friday, but only Landry will be back for Saturday’s third round in the RBC Heritage.
Landry, who made the turn in two under, settled for an even par 71 and a 36-hole total of 140. Stroud, after making five birdies on the way to a first-day 71, could sink only one en route to a 73 and a 144.
Due to a four-hour weather delay, several players have to return Saturday morning to complete their second round. The cut was projected to be even or one over, meaning Stroud once again won’t be around for the weekend.
Landry looked to be in good shape after birdies at 7 and 9 helped him to a front-nine 34. But he shot 37 on the back, with bogeys at 11, 13 and 18. His lone birdie on the incoming nine came from 6 feet at the par-5 15th.
All three of Landry’s bogeys were the result of being unable to get up and down from greenside bunkers. He is, however, in good position, only three shots out of the top 10.
Shane Lowry was the leader at nine under through 16 holes when play was suspended.
Stroud, meanwhile, could not manage to get his irons close to the hole and wound up shooting 144 for the second consecutive year. He made a bogey on three, got that back with a birdie from three feet on the par-5 fifth, slipped back to one over with a bogey at six and stayed that way until a bogey at 18.
Battling high winds, the Port Neches-Groves ex had only three birdie putts inside 20 feet.
