NEDERLAND — Nederland will welcome a microbrewery and a Brick Oven Pizza by the end of the year.
Brick Oven Pizza owner Chad Westbrook said he plans to open up shop at 2500 Nederland Ave., next to the Family Dollar.
Brick Oven Pizza has locations in Lumberton, Bridge City, Kemah and Deer Park. The Bridge City location currently has a 4-star rating and 300 reviews on Google.
“I’ve been wanting to go on Nederland Avenue for a while,” Westbrook said. “I just found a location that became available that’s nice. The demographics are more what we are looking for. [Nederland] is a small town, but not too small, like Buna, but not huge like Beaumont or Port Arthur. We’re looking for a medium-size town to give a hometown feel.”
Obviously, the main attraction will be the pizza, but the restaurant has more to offer.
“We have sandwiches and salads,” Westbrook said. “We have quite a bit of appetizers. We have draft beer, bottle beer and wine by the glass. We offer lasagna and chicken alfredo.”
Westbrook said he is aiming to open the doors on July 1.
Kay DeCuir, director of the Nederland Economic Development Corp., said the city will also add a microbrewery on Boston Avenue. Buckstin Brew Co. will open on Boston Avenue. The owners are Justin and Gabrielle Buchanan-Lopez. Gabrielle is a co-owner of Blanc Boutique + Salon on 12th Street.
DeCuir said the owners are aiming to have the brewery open by the end of the year. Neither owners of Buckstin Brew Co. returned calls for comment.
