Staff report

Interstate 10 westbound lanes have reopened and crews are working to reopen the eastbound lanes within the next hour after Texas Troopers on Monday morning worked a multi-vehicle wreck on the Womack Overpass. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the wreck occurred around 9:15 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that a Toyota passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound, in the inside lane, on Interstate 10. An 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound, in the outside lane, on Interstate 10. The driver of the Toyota made an unsafe lane change and struck the commercial motor vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the commercial motor vehicle to veer to the right, striking a concrete barrier. After striking the barrier, the 18-wheeler rolled onto its side and was engulfed in flames.
