Isai Acosta of Port Neches-Groves and Meg Sheppard of Nederland were named second-team all-state in 5A Region III soccer by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches.
Acosta posted a 1.006 goals-against average and posted three shutouts while helping the Indians win the District 21-5A championship. Sheppard netted 37 goals as a senior and 149 for her career, en route to leading Nederland to back-to-back district championships and winning the district MVP honor the past two seasons.
Sheppard will play in the TASCO Senior All-Star Game on May 18 in San Marcos.
PNG sophomore midfielder Jason Lovejoy, the 21-5A boys MVP, received honorable mention for all-state. He scored 28 goals and made 20 assists on the season.
PNG placed four boys and girls on TASCO’s All-Region III first team: junior defenders Ty Bigham and Halley Smith, senior midfielder Ariel Muller and junior forward Breeana Riggs.
