Preliminary reports indicated that a commercial motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Camaro, which had hydroplaned before the collision.

Justice of the Peace Rodney Price confirmed the driver of the Camaro was dead at the scene.

Troopers said they would not ID the driver until his family had been notified, but said he was 22, living in Orange but was born in El Salvador.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.
