Vidor police have recovered the remains of a body — it is believed to be a white male — in a private pond in the 19000 block of Interstate Highway 10 near the intersection of Old Highway 90 and the I-10 eastbound service road.

Chief Rod Carroll said the body was recovered at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday.

Justice of the Peace Rodney Price ordered an autopsy on the body, which was recovered with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Orange County ESD #1.

Police were unable to immediately identify the subject or determine his cause of death. Authorities were awaiting the medical examiner’s report to make identification.

Vidor police were reviewing missing persons reports in the area.
