Willie Thomas, 92, of Port Arthur, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Groves. Willie was born January 24, 1927 in Palmetto, Louisiana to Mack and Stella Thomas. He served in the United States Army and retired from Texaco Refinery. Willie’s passion in life was providing for his family and teaching them good work ethics. He loved his family dearly and had a special place in his heart for babies. He was very meticulous about his hair and clothing attire. Willie took pride in his landscaping and work. He loved bowling, singing, fishing, playing dominoes and playing pool. Willie had a great personality and was often joking around and making others laugh. Willie’s favorite things in life were coffee and chocolate dipped cones from Dairy Queen.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Mack Thomas and Stella Simien Thomas; his late wife of 48 years, Hattie Mae Johnson Thomas; son, Willie Bruce Thomas Jr.; brother, Archie Thomas and sisters, Effie Williams and Ethel Senegal. He is survived by his children, Wilma Paulette White (Glen); Mark Curtis Thomas; Darlene Thomas-Pierre (Wendell); Earline Jennings (James) all of Port Arthur, TX; Marie Antonette Jackson (Gary) of Killen, TX and Naomi Estelle Weatherspoon (Leon) of San Antonio, TX. Mr. Thomas leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives to cherish his memories.

Wake services for Mr. Thomas will be Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Willie Thomas will be celebrated Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church; 1725 Bluebonnet Ave., Port Arthur, Texas. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
