Staff report
An unidentified body of a man found in a private pond near Interstate 10 has been identified.
Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said the victim was identified as Patrick Steven Wall, 49, of Vidor. He said there were “no signs of unnatural trauma to the body.”
Family members had reported Wall missing to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Carroll said in an issued statement. He said authorities are awaiting a toxicology report for the final autopsy and determination of cause of death.
Wall’s remains were recovered Tuesday morning in a private pond in the 19000 block of Interstate Highway 10 near the intersection of Old Highway 90 and the I-10 eastbound service road.
Justice of the Peace Rodney Price ordered an autopsy on the body, which was recovered with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Orange County ESD #1.
Police were unable to immediately identify the subject or determine his cause of death. Authorities were awaiting the medical examiner’s report to make identification, Vidor police said then. They were reviewing missing persons reports in the area.
