A head-on collision in Port Arthur early Friday resulted in the death of one driver and injury to the other.

Port Arthur police said in an issued statement that two vehicles — a Nissan Armada and Dodge Ram truck — collided in the 3500 block of south State Highway 82 around 4 a.m.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, police said; the second driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Police had not identified the deceased driver Friday morning.

The Advanced Accident Investigation Team is in charge of the investigation.
