Sixteen vehicles were involved in chain-reaction interstate crashes Sunday, but only one minor injury was reported.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers said the collisions began around 1:15 p.m. when an eastbound driver on Interstate 10 experienced a blowout near Taylor Bayou.

DPS said in an issued statement that what followed as the first driver attempted to pull off the roadway were three separate crashes involving a total of 16 vehicles.

Penny Causey, 62, of Louisiana sustained the sole reported injuries, DPS said. She was taken to Riceland hospital in Winnie with minor injuries.

All eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 were closed for about an hour, but later reopened to traffic.
