The Port Neches Little League 10-under Indians scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to expand a narrow lead over the Washington County All-Stars and advanced into the elimination bracket final of the Texas East State Tournament in Tyler with a 6-2 win Sunday.

The win moved the Indians, who are Port Neches’ all-stars, to Monday’s game against Needville, which beat Port Neches 18-3 on Saturday. The winner will take on Pearland at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Faulkner Park, 410 W. Cumberland Rd.

The Indians faced two outs when Konner Droddy scored on a passed ball to make it 4-2. Parker Ryan Ross then doubled on a line drive to right field to score Foster Cecka and Kayce Cropper.

Washington County narrowed the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth.

Both Rosses, Cropper and Bryceten Felps each had two hits. Cropper threw the first four innings and struck out six while walking four in a one-hit performance to earn the win, while Droddy, Felps and Parker Allen Ross also took the mound.

In Saturday’s game, Needville outhit Port Neches 21-9 and took advantage of five Indians errors. Cropper hit 3 for 4 and Mire 2 for 2 (including a home run with two RBI) despite the loss, while Felps, Parker Allen Ross, Droddy and Valor Provencio each lined a hit as well.
