A two-day public liquidation sale is set for this weekend for surplus, non-medical items at Christus St. Mary Hospital.
Centurion Service Group and Christus St. Mary Hospital are teaming up for the sale, which will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the main entrance, 3600 Gates Blvd.
The liquidation sale is cash and carry only.
Sale items include: executive office furniture, office equipment and supplies, artwork, commercial kitchen, miscellaneous equipment, supplies and more.
“This is for people who need or want to purchase furniture items, industrial kitchen items and more,” said Danielle Pardue, director of marketing and communications for Christus Southeast Texas Health System. “There is furniture, chairs, desks, book cases, file cabinets, tables, artwork and décor.”
Officials announced the closure of the 229-bed facility in early June, saying the hospital’s business model was unsustainable after years of declining numbers for the hospital in general and for inpatient care specifically.
The closure is seen as the “next season with outpatient care at its Mid County facility at 365 and Ninth Avenue representing the future of healthcare delivery.”
The doors to St. Mary Hospital officially closed in July, bringing an end to 89 years of service at the Gates Boulevard location.
Historical items and memorabilia have already been distributed and Centurion Service Group, which has international relationships with medical companies, is tasked with the medical equipment portion.
The building will be demolished at some time in the future.
