JCSO: 2 men shot, 1 killed in Central Gardens

CENTRAL GARDENS – On Tuesday around 10:20 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched the 1500 block of Lamar Avenue in reference to a shooting that had taken place.
Upon arrival, Deputies discovered one of the residents and another young man had been shot.
According to the father of the resident who had been shot, his son has been talking over social media to a guy about buying a motorcycle.
The seller and another subject arrived with masks covering the lower portion of their face.
Police said at least one of the suspects has a gun and the son had a gun. Gunfire was exchanged. One of the suspects ran into the back yard next door and died, JCSO said.
A witness said the second suspect ran to a waiting car just down the street and drove away.
The JCSO K-9 lost his track in that area.
The JCSO Crime Scene Unit and the SETX Regional Crime Lab is processing the scene. The gunshot resident was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
After the Crime Scene Unit clears the scene, police said the body will be transferred to the Jefferson County Lab for an autopsy.
“No names and no additional information will be given out until further notice,” a Sheriff’s Office release said. “We ask that all of you in that area check your security camera’s between 10 p.m. and 10:30 pm to see if there is any suspicious activity on your camera. If so, please call Detective Molfino at 406-835-8411.”
