A Port Arthur man wanted for sexual assault of a child in behind bars.

Joey Lynn Kirks, 51, turned himself in at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 6), according the authorities.

In announcing the update this morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office added: “Thank you for all of your assistance in this matter.”

The Sheriff’s Office had put the word out Tuesday afternoon that Kirks was wanted for arrest.

Police said Kirks had three outstanding Jefferson County warrants – two for indecency with a child and a third is for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
