Butler, Jacobs get three firsts each at Bobcat Relays

The Port Neches-Groves girls track and field team took home gold Thursday, winning the Bobcat Relays at Orangefield High School with 131 points.
Sanaria Butler and Cyrus Jacobs each won first place in three events. Butler won the long jump with 17’ 6’’, the triple jump with 37’ 5’’ and the 400-meter dash with 59.57. Jacobs also won his 400 with 49.95 as well as the 100 with 11.25 and the 800 with 2:04.75.
In field events for the girls, Rai’vin Griffin finished third in the long jump with 14’ 11¾’’ and Karisa Gonzales finished fourth with 14’ 8¾’’. For the boys, Jacob Smith placed second in pole vault with 11’6’’ while Jarrett Callier placed third in discus with 12’ 3½’’.
The girls 4×400 relay team placed first with a time of 4:22.99. Both the 4×100 team and the 4×200 team came in second with 52.03 for the 4×100 and 1:53.74 for the 4×200. Kalea Pham won the 300 hurdles with 51.87 while Griffin got second with 53.18. Alex Herrera placed second in the 100 hurdles with 17.25 and Pham placed third with 17.30. In long distance runs, Paisley Lang earned second in the 3200 with 13:56 and second in the 1600 with 6:22.39 while Ann Licatino also placed second in the 800 with 2:39.56. Among the boys, Kemon Kemper was third in the 110 hurdles with 17.86 while Hunter Brown placed second in the 200 with 23.92.
The PNG track teams next participate in the Cardinal Relays at Bridge City on Thursday, March 5.
