The Port Arthur Health Department has confirmed its first case of coronavirus.
The individual, who was not named, resides in Port Arthur and is between 40 and 50 years of age, according to a news release from the city.
“The Port Arthur Health Department is conducting an epidemiological investigation and is working to quickly identify close contacts of the individual,” the release reads. “Those may include family, friends, co-workers and other potential contacts.”
The city reminds anyone experiencing fever, cough or shortness of breath; concerned he or she has come in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient; or has a history of travel from affected geographic areas within 14 days of symptom onset to call the six-county COVID-19 hotline at 409-550-2536.
Those who are concerned are asked to call first so nurses may evaluate risk and determine if a visit is needed so other patients will not be put at risk.
