BOB WEST CHIP SHOTS: Nederland’s Price Youngs scores 3rd hole-in-one

Price Youngs of Nederland scored his third hole in one on May 4 at Babe Zaharias. Youngs used an 8-iron from 125 yards on the 7th hole to record his ace. Witnesses were Kyle Landry and Tim Turner . . .

The return of women’s professional golf to Southeast Texas, in the form of the APT Babe Zaharias Open, has been rescheduled for the week of Sept. 13-18 at Beaumont Country Club. Originally set for the second week in June, the BZO remains a 72-hole event . . .

With a huge boost from 77-year-old Charlie Leard, Keith Mullins’ team scored a sweep in the Monday Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Zaharias. Leard’s 72 helped Mullins, Raymond Darbonne and Pete Reobri to post a smoking minus 9 on the front and minus 3 on the back . . .

In the Super Saturday 2 ball at Zaharias, the team of Doug LeBlanc, Steve Wisenbaker, Wes McDonald and Jason Ferguson won the front with plus 1.

There was a tie on the back at plus 1 between the team of Adam Davis, Larry Foster, Randy Trahan and Thad Keisnick and the foursome of Mike Brown, Gary Fontenot, Troy Touchet and Don Duplan . . .

The Friday 2 ball at Zaharias saw the team of Ron LaSalle, Wisenbaker, Touchet and a ghost player win the front with minus 1. On the back, Don MacNeil, Gene Jones, Butch Cross and a ghost player placed first at minus 2 . . .

In the Thursday Zaharias 2 ball, the foursome of Davis, Rusty Hicks, Dan Flood and Roger Baumer won with minus 3. On the back, minus 2 won for Mullns, Darbonne, McDonald and Dwayne Benoit . . .

The Wednesday Zaharias DogFight was played in an all-points-count format. Placing first with 47 points was the team of Cap Hollier, Rufus Reyes, Keith Marshall and Duplan. Second with 45 points was the team of Brown, Wisenbaker, Eddie Delk and a ghost player.

Closest to the pin winners were Cross (No. 2), Ted Freeman (No. 7), Brown (No. 12) and Delk (No. 15) . . .
