For the first time in Port Arthur history, a group of seniors celebrated receiving a high school diploma but also an associate’s degree from Lamar State College Port Arthur.
The first-ever Woodrow Wilson Early College High School graduating class gathered for a senior class photo recently. Together they represent the culmination of a partnership between Port Arthur ISD and LSCPA where high school students can attain a high school diploma and an associate’s degree, both free to the students. The renovated Woodrow Wilson school, across Lakeshore Drive from LSCPA’s main campus, has been home to ECHS since 2017, when this year’s grads were 10th-graders.
Bey’Ounce Banks and Heaven Perrault were Magna Cum Laude grads from ECHS. Four ECHS students earned Cum Laude honors: Chloe Guidry, Kaila Jackson, Audrey Chavez and Santos Funez. Pictured with the graduates are, front-left, LSCPA President Dr. Betty Reynard and LSCPA Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Pamela Millsap.
