Ms. Lena Smith was born on April 1, 1944 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late James Wilson and Mrs. Mattie McCray.

Lena is the youngest of seven children born to this union.

She moved to Port Arthur, TX in 1968.

She joined First Sixth Street Baptist Church of Port Arthur, Texas.

She faithfully served in many ministries and various capacities.

These ministries include, but are not limited to the senior usher board, adult praise dance team, deaconess board, and the Hannah and Esther circle.

She was affectionally known for her work as the youth directress and leader of the G. A. Girls.

In 2003, Lena became a member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Port Arthur, TX.

She continued to serve as the youth directress, treasurer of the usher board, and head deaconess.

Ms. Smith also worked with The Women of Virtue Women’s Ministry as a diamond team member.

Lena was an active member of two prestigious organizations, The High Society Red Hatters and the Ladies of the Unique Union.

On June 28, 2020 Lena transitioned from labor to reward in the comforts of her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Mr. James Wilson, Mother, Mrs. Mattie McCray, Sister, Mrs. Leola Crawford, and Brothers, Mr. Robert Green, Mr. James Wilson Jr and Mr. Leroy Wilson, and she has gracefully joined them at the gates of heaven.

Those left to fulfill and cherish Lena’s Legacy include her two brothers, Mr. Leon Wilson and Dr. Roosevelt (Barbara) Wilson.

Devoted Daughter, Charlotte (Albert) Moses, Three committed sons, Mr. Leonard Marshall, Mr. Christopher Smith, Mr. Christian Smith, Two step children, Mrs. Stephanie (Russell) Bourgeois and Mr. Michael (Debora) Smith. Grandchildren, Darius Stewart, Shayla Martin, Pastor Albert (Raven) Moses III, Jeremey Marshall, Pastor Ashton (Courtney) Moses, LaShanta Marshall, Ariel (Josef) Chapman, Brittany Alexander, Aisha (Gary) Mason, Christopher Smith Jr., Christal Smith, and Christian Smith Jr., Five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, 2020 4PM to 7PM at Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Port Arthur, TX.

Funeral service will be Monday, July 6, 2020 11AM at Christian Faith MBC.
